Introduction

Welcome to Quick Start Reading

Quick Start Reading equips participants with strategies and tools to work effectively on building reading skills for students with Down syndrome in home and school settings.

It consists of:
-Four live instructional sessions
-Four live Q&A sessions
-On-demand sessions
-Printable resources and handouts
-Demonstration videos
-Resource recommendations
-Access to dedicated Facebook group

Quick Start Reading is generally recommended for those working with students in pre-school through 1st grade (roughly ages 3-6) or students who need introductory support in learning to read (e.g., sight word acquisition, phonemic awareness, sentence building and personalized resources). Sessions are geared towards parents, but are open to administrators, teachers and therapists. If you aren’t sure that this is the correct program for you, please feel free to reach out with questions at info@dsfoc.org.
