This month we explore sounds and letters. A growing body of research supports the importance of including phonemic awareness and phonic activities in literacy instruction for students with Down syndrome. For those with little sound knowledge, we first take a "listening walk" to direct our learner's ears towards the sounds of their environment (e.g., barking dogs, car horns, airplanes)...
