Learning Together Across the Globe
Starting tonight, 133 participants from around the world will gather for DSF’s free Quick Start Reading series for new and developing readers with Down syndrome. From California to Singapore, the United Kingdom to Chile, and many places in between, participants are united by a common goal: helping learners with Down syndrome reach their reading potential.
Over the next three weeks, we’ll continue building practical, research-informed strategies for supporting beginning readers. Together we’ll explore letter-sound relationships, personalized books and reading activities, sentence building, and other techniques families and educators can begin using right away to make reading more meaningful, engaging, and successful.
One of the greatest joys of this series has already been watching a learning community begin to take shape. Families and educators are asking thoughtful questions, sharing ideas, encouraging one another, and discovering they’re not alone on this journey.
