Description

This 10 module online course will explore social boundaries using the Circles Curriculum. Live classes will meet once a week from using Zoom (all classes will also be recorded). The course is designed for “parent and student” or “parent only” participation. It is not a “student only” course.

Circles teaches social distance and levels of intimacy through the use of seven color-coded concentric circles. We’d love you to join us as we walk through each circle, figuring out who belongs within it and the appropriate rules of talk, trust and touch.

Each of the 10 modules will provide participants with the following content:

  1. Overview of the topic and learning objectives
  2. Opportunity to participate in live or on-demand sessions
  3. Session resources, including a presentation handout (for note taking) and related downloadable activities
  4. Videos (where applicable/available)
  5. Reflection opportunity (questions to guide additional thoughts on the topic)

Note:

  • The Circles paradigm was originally created by Marklyn P. Champagne and Leslie Walker-Hirsch. James Stanfield worked with these educators to develop the Circles Curriculum. Circles was first introduced on a wide-scale basis in 1983. It is now used in over 10,000 institutions nationwide and is the basis for this online class.
  • DSF created this 10 module online program based on the Circles Curriculum, but has developed its own presentations, videos, handouts, and activities to enhance and support instruction.

Please reach out to us via email with any questions! Hope to see you in class.
